It unveiled an all-carbon Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype on Friday that has three electric motors and 1,548hp. And the car is going racing in Nurburgring come October.

Xiaomi aims to set a new Nürburgring record for four-door electric sedans, challenging the current record held by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT (7:07.55 minutes) at the 20km northern loop of the race track.

The Volkswagen ID.R is the fastest electric car around the Nürburgring chalking a lap time of 6:05.336 minutes.

Against Chinese rivals , the SU7 Ultra, with its 1,578 hp, outguns Zeekr 001 FR and BYD YangWang U9, standing as the world’s fastest four-door car.

The SU7 Ultra was revealed by Xiaomi founder Lei Jun at his 2024 annual speech on Friday. It’s the first car to get Xiaomi’s HyperEngine V8s, equipped with three motors—two V8s and one V6s—producing a total of 1548 horsepower, surpassing luxury sports cars like the Bugatti Chiron (but not the Tourbillon).

As reported by carnewschina.com, the HyperEngine V8s delivers a maximum speed of 27,200 rpm, 578hp, and 635Nm torque.

The SU7 Ultra also boasts a CATL Qilin 2.0 high-power LFP battery with an output of 1,330 kW and rapid recharging capabilities. AP Racing high-performance brake calipers and a motor reverse braking system enhance braking efficiency, offering deceleration over 2.36G and a 0-100 kph braking distance of 25 metres.

The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100kp in 1.97 seconds and reaches a top speed of 350kph. Weighing under 1,900 kg, the SU7 Ultra’s design includes a large carbon fibre rear wing and aerodynamic enhancements. It measures 5,260/2,064/1,406 mm with a 3,000 mm wheelbase.

Compared to the standard SU7, the SU7 Ultra is longer and wider but has the same wheelbase.
