Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia has launched the Omoda C9 PHEV in Malaysia at RM208,800, giving the brand a new flagship. It now sits at the top of the local C9 range as Omoda Jaecoo expands its plug-in hybrid push.

The fully imported C9 PHEV uses the group’s Super Hybrid System, combining a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor and all-wheel drive. Total output is quoted at 537PS and 650Nm, with a claimed 0-100kph time of 4.9 seconds. For a sizeable SUV, that is quick.

Its battery is a 34.46kWh LFP pack, and claimed electric-only range is 145km on the WLTP cycle. With a full tank and full charge, the company said the combined range reaches 1,100km, which should make it easier to use as both a daily commuter and a long-distance cruiser.

Kit levels look strong. The C9 PHEV comes with twin 12.3-inch displays, a 14-speaker Sony sound system, and a long safety suite that includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, rear cross traffic alert, rear collision warning, emergency lane keep assist and a 540-degree camera.

The warranty package is hefty too: seven years/200,000km for the vehicle, 10 years/1,000,000km for the engine, and 10 years/200,000km for the battery, motors and power electronics.
