BYD Malaysia has appointed Jacob Ma as its new managing director, with oversight of both the BYD and DENZA brands in Malaysia. He takes over as Eagle Zhao moves full-time to Indonesia as President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia.
The change comes as BYD is no longer a newcomer in Malaysia.
Since the brand entered the market in 2022, Zhao has overseen the launch of the Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal, M6, Atto 2, Seal 6 and Sealion 7, and also led Denza’s local debut with the D9.
Ma brings practical BYD experience. He spent five years as head of training at BYD headquarters and two years as vice-president of BYD Indonesia, where his work focused on preparing teams for overseas markets and strengthening internal capability.
In Malaysia, he will oversee strategy, sales, marketing, network development and aftersales operations.
Ma said Malaysia remains a strategic market for the group.

“Our focus will be on reinforcing operational excellence, elevating customer experience, and ensuring sustainable growth for both BYD and Denza.”
