Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) is strengthening its value-for-money pitch by pairing a lifetime warranty on genuine parts with extra in-car data for existing customers.

The company has rebranded its aftersales scheme as the Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty, giving a lifetime guarantee at no additional cost on eligible Volvo Genuine Parts fitted at authorised dealerships nationwide.

This is the first time any car maker is offering such a scheme in Malaysia, said VCM.

Owners only pay for the part and installation, with labour for future replacements covered under the programme.

Aimed at vehicles that have moved beyond the standard factory warranty, the plan is designed to cut long-term running costs by backing parts “for life”.

It covers most Volvo Genuine Parts, including eligible remanufactured components, but excludes wholesale and over-the-counter sales, consumables, batteries, accessories and wear-and-tear items.

Covered parts can be replaced an unlimited number of times, and if a defective item causes other eligible components to fail, those will be changed free of charge as well.

To qualify, parts must have been bought and installed at an authorised Volvo outlet on or after Oct 1, 2021, supported by a valid invoice.

The warranty is non-transferable and tied to a single ownership, including fleet and company cars.

Vehicles that have skipped authorised workshops for more than two years after the standard warranty period must undergo a health check at the owner’s cost, and ongoing coverage depends on servicing being carried out within Volvo’s official network.

“The Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty programme offers lasting peace of mind for owners at no extra charge, especially for customers who are no longer covered by our standard or extended manufacturer’s warranty,” said Volvo Car Malaysia customer service director Godfrey Fernandez.

In a separate move to reward loyalty, VCM is extending its Volvo Car Connect Plus data service by an extra year for eligible owners whose connectivity packages are nearing expiry.

The offer covers 2022 and 2023 model-year cars on the CMA and SPA1 platforms, including the XC40, C40, XC60, XC90, S60, S90 and V60 Recharge models with Google built-in.

The extension is automatic and the subscription is tied to the vehicle, allowing any remaining data and time to pass on to the next owner, enhancing resale appeal.
