Mitsubishi Motors has taken the covers off the Elevance Concept, an electrified crossover SUV, at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, positioning it as a showcase for the brand’s latest all-wheel control and plug-in hybrid know-how.

Sharing the stand are two familiar nameplates with fresh hardware: a new Delica D:5 prototype and the all-new Delica Mini, which goes on sale in Japan today.

The Elevance Concept is pitched as a premium-leaning, go-anywhere SUV that emphasises time spent in the cabin as much as the journey.

It pairs a plug-in hybrid system—with an engine compatible with carbon-neutral fuel—and a large-capacity traction battery capable of powering campsite equipment via external supply.

A quad-motor four-wheel drive layout integrates Mitsubishi’s Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC), using in-wheel motors at the front and dual-motor Active Yaw Control at the rear to manage traction and body behaviour on mixed surfaces.

The company said the system can level the car on uneven ground and reduce wobble to help mitigate car sickness.

An AI Co-Driver is central to the concept. Displayed on an LCD embedded in the steering wheel and instrument panel, it proposes destinations based on the driver’s preferences and analyses conditions in real time to recommend drive modes, aiming to raise confidence on unfamiliar routes.

A capsule-like cabin sits within a rigid body inspired by a rib-bone frame idea, promising strength and security.

The evolved Dynamic Shield front is framed by a honeycomb grille, while character lines flow from the headlamps to the tail. Lowered side windows are intended to improve outward views for passengers.

The cabin adopts a seamless, shell-type layout from dashboard to floor, with a full-width display giving the driver sight of blind spots and areas around the vehicle that are typically hidden.

Seating is arranged in three rows for six occupants, with high-quality leather and generous space. Mitsubishi highlights trailer support and the ability to power a compact kitchen and shower enclosure from the PHEV battery for glamping-style trips.

Mitsubishi did not reveal a timeline for Elevance production.

Alongside the concept, Mitsubishi showed the new Delica D:5 prototype, an all-round MPV developed under the theme of an “enhanced all-around” model.

It now integrates S-AWC with expanded drive modes to suit varied surfaces. Exterior revisions include a redesigned grille and bumper, new wheel-arch mouldings and a tougher stance. Inside, metal-accented panels reference outdoor gear and the driver now gets digital instruments.

Rounding out the stand is the Delica Mini, a super height-wagon kei car created as an “advanced, active, reliable partner”.

It brings a room-efficient body, updated interior, and improved ease of use with five newly added drive modes, aiming to serve families and outdoor-minded buyers who want city manoeuvrability with weekend flexibility.
