Nearly 450 lucky senior citizens in Shah Alam will soon enjoy free street parking, thanks to the Shah Alam City Council’s (MBSA) “Golden Parking” initiative.
Out of 628 hopefuls, 449 applications made the cut. This perk is part of the city’s 25th anniversary celebrations and is open to MBSA ratepayers aged 60 and above — provided they’ve got a clean slate with no unpaid assessment tax or traffic fines.
Each successful applicant can register one vehicle, which must be in their name and match the name on their property.
The scheme is only valid for MBSA-managed street parking — not for two-hour limit zones, disabled bays, or private carparks. But here’s a friendly twist: if a family member happens to use the registered car, enforcement officers will look the other way.
MBSA estimates there are around 20,000 eligible seniors in Shah Alam, so this could just be the start.
