Every bit of publicity helps to sell a product. That’s the mindset of Proton as it seizes on the latest numbers rolling in on the e.MAS 7.
Its EV arm, Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (Pro-Net), said the the e.MAS 7 was Malaysia’s best-selling electric vehicle in June 2025 and retained the No. 1 spot for the sixth straight month, delivering 4,003 units between Jan 1 and June 30 for a 23.4% market share.
Exports totalled 250 units to selected markets, including Trinidad and Tobago. Pro-Net kept pricing unchanged for both variants to underline the model’s value positioning.
Pro-Net chief executive officer Zhang Qiang said the company aimed to build long-term trust and value rather than rely on heavy discounts.
Proton reported more than 700,000 manhours of engineering and validation and over 100,000km of local on-road testing before launch.

A dedicated EV dealership network began development in January 2024, with over RM2 million invested in each of 35 outlets for facilities, specialised equipment, EV service bays and selected DC chargers, creating more than 700 jobs.
Dealer support included launch assistance, investment incentives and recognition programmes.
Pro-Net expanded collaborations with charging point operators, extending the “Live Integrated Charging Map” to over 3,300 chargers; more than 1,100 are located at 390 high-rise residential properties.
The network, initiated by a 2022 memorandum of understanding with Gentari, now spans 10 operators: Charge+, ChargeSini, RExharge, Charge N Go, JomCharge, chargEV, DC Handal, Carput Zap and Shell Recharge.
Pro-Net said organisational growth since 2022 has built teams for sales, marketing, product development and charging infrastructure to sustain momentum.
To spur uptake, the Pro-Net “Power Exchange” programme offers a RM5,000 trade-in bonus for any brand or age of vehicle, subject to inspection and regulatory approval.
