Honda has unveiled the Honda 0 α (alpha), a next-generation electric SUV prototype, at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 in Tokyo.

The Honda 0 α targets first-time EV buyers. This includes younger generations who are first time purchasers.

Positioned as the “gateway model” to the Honda 0 Series, the 0 α follows the 0 Saloon and 0 SUV that made their bow at CES in January. Honda said the production version would go on sale globally from 2027, with Japan and India as initial focus markets.

The 0 α is shaped around the 0 Series development mantra of “Thin, Light, and Wise.”

Packaging prioritises a low overall height without sacrificing ground clearance, aiming to deliver an airy cabin within a tidy footprint. A wide stance underscores SUV stability, while the body adopts the clean surfacing and restrained detailing seen across the new 0 Series design language.

Honda highlights a pair of integrated screen areas at the front and rear as signature cues.

Up front, elements usually separated — headlamps, charging lid and an illuminated emblem — are grouped within a single panel to reduce visual clutter.

At the rear, a U-shaped lighting signature combines tail, reverse and indicator functions, tracing the edge of the rear screen section to emphasise width and provide clear signalling.

Inside, the concept points to a spacious, comfort-led cabin with the promise of improved occupant packaging compared with conventional SUVs of similar size.

While Honda has not released powertrain or range figures at this stage, the brand frames the 0 α as a practical, everyday EV designed to live as easily in city streets as it does on rural roads.
