iCaur Malaysia has started local assembly of the iCaur 03, turning its boxy electric SUV from a fully imported model into a CKD product less than a year after its local debut.

The iCaur 03 was launched in Malaysia as a CBU model in September 2025. It came in two versions: all-wheel drive, and rear-wheel drive.

The intelligent all-wheel drive (iWD) 03 is being locally assembled first, with the entry version set to be produced later.

CKD production started in the second quarter of 2026 at the Chery Corporate Malaysia plant in Shah Alam, with the first locally assembled units expected to reach iCaur dealerships nationwide by the end of this month.

Pricing starts from RM129,880 on-the-road without insurance in Peninsular Malaysia.

For comparison, the fully imported 2026 iCaur 03 iWD is priced at RM130,080 with EV road tax included, which makes the locally assembled model RM200 cheaper.

iCaur Malaysia is also bundling the vehicle with a 7 kW AC home charger and free scheduled service for two years or 45,000km, whichever comes first.

The iCaur 03 iWD uses a dual-motor drivetrain producing 205 kW (279 PS) and 385 Nm of torque.

It is fitted with a 69.8 kWh battery, with a claimed range of 418km NEDC (355km, WLTP estimated).

Charging support is rated at 80 kW DC and 6.6 kW AC, while a 3.2 kW V2L function lets owners power compatible devices from the vehicle.

The move to local assembly gives iCaur a stronger local base at a time when Malaysia’s EV market is becoming more sensitive to pricing, import rules and long-term ownership costs.

The brand said it registered 547 units across its line-up in April 2026, pointing to early demand for its NEV models.

iCaur Malaysia senior director Francis Chin said, “The iCaur 03 has connected strongly with Malaysian drivers because it brings something different to the electric vehicle space. It is expressive, capable, and unmistakably iCaur.”

“Moving into local assembly is a meaningful step for us. It brings together local pride and global technology, while allowing us to meet growing demand without changing what customers already love about the iCaur 03.

“These locally assembled units retain 100% of the high-standard specifications, engineering standards and Born To Play character that customers experienced with the CBU model,” he added.
