Continental will debut its window projection solution at CES 2025, held Jan 7–10 in Las Vegas.
Continental’s new solution aims to create a more engaging and personalised user experience, offering relevant information before drivers even enter the vehicle.
The technology projects high-resolution content onto a vehicle’s rear side windows, visible externally.
When parked, the system can communicate with the environment, displaying customisable information such as an electric vehicle’s charge level or a personalised image, like a sports team logo.
The system comprises a mini projector, a side window that electrically darkens to serve as a projection screen, and intelligent software.
The projector, housed in the roof lining, operates with minimal space—less than half a litre. Its high-resolution output is optimised by the darkened window, ensuring high image quality. Engineers are already working on making the system more compact for future iterations.
The technology integrates the AI-powered eTravel.companion, developed in collaboration with platform provider banbutsu. This software uses data like driving habits, location, and weather to deliver real-time, personalised suggestions.
For instance, the system might display a favourite sports team’s logo if the driver is heading to a game or suggest charging stops based on the vehicle’s route and battery level.
