Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET) said the Proton e.MAS 5 secured 1,607 bookings within 24 hours of order books opening on Oct 4.
The strong interest followed a first-of-its-kind livestream for the “Open for Booking” announcement, held on Saturday at Proton e.MAS Nilai, where the public were introduced to the e.MAS 5.
At this pricing, it would be the most affordable electric vehicle (EV) – until Perodua’s own enters the scene in the coming weeks.
With an estimated starting price between RM60,000 and RM80,000, the e.MAS 5 stands as Malaysia’s first affordable EV, designed to make electric mobility a reality for everyone.
The e.MAS 5 is touted as compact on the outside yet spacious within. It claims to deliver B-segment agility with C-segment comfort.
As usual, Proton’s second EV is based on a Geely model.
