Tesla has introduced the first V4 Supercharging stations in Southeast Asia, launching at IOI City Mall and IOI Mall Puchong in Malaysia.
Each location is equipped with eight V4 Superchargers (DC) and two Destination Chargers (AC).
The V4 Superchargers feature a longer cable for easier access and can support peak charging rates of up to 250kW per vehicle, allowing a Tesla Model 3 Long Range to recharge up to 282km in just 15 minutes.
The longer cables are also to enable non-Tesla electric cars to use the chargers when the network is open to them.
What’s more, the V4 Superchargers can be updated with new features and are able to support 350kW charging but Tesla is limiting it to 250kW for now.
The charging process is streamlined through the Tesla App, which allows users to view charger availability, navigate to stations, and monitor their charge status.
Payments for charging are automatically processed via the app, simplifying the experience at a cost of RM 1.25/kWh.
Tesla is also offering test drives and orders for the Model 3 and Model Y at starting prices of RM181,000 and RM191,000 respectively. Customers can book these through the Tesla Malaysia hotline.
The Cybertruck is also on display at the Tesla Pavilion Damansara Heights Experience Centre, where the public can explore this futuristic vehicle.
Tesla has an agreement with the Malaysian government to install 50 Superchargers by 2026 and 15% of them must be open to all EVs.
As of today, there are 48 Superchargers across 10 Supercharging stations and 57 AC chargers across 11 Destination Charging stations in Malaysia.
