Bermaz Xpeng has announced a Malaysian recall campaign for the XPeng X9 over a potential leak in its front air springs, with affected vehicles to receive a complete front air-suspension assembly replacement free of charge.

The Malaysian distributor said the campaign follows XPeng’s voluntary recall in China and covers affected X9s from production batches before Aug 11, 2025. Vehicles from other batches are not affected.

Carlist previously reported that 481 X9s in Malaysia are affected, citing XPeng.

China’s State Administration for Market Regulation said variations in the manufacturing process could reduce the airtightness of the front air springs. After prolonged use in hot and humid conditions, the components may gradually leak, triggering a warning light and message. In extreme cases, vehicle handling could be affected.

The Chinese recall covers 33,473 X9s built from Aug 8, 2023 to Aug 11, 2025 and formally begins on Aug 28.

Bermaz Xpeng has also extended warranty coverage for the front air-suspension system to eight years or 160,000km, whichever comes first. The coverage is transferable.

Affected Malaysian owners can arrange the repair through an XPeng authorised service centre using the XPeng mobile app.
