Malaysian startup JuiceUP EV Grid Sdn Bhd jumps in to offer an integrated open payment solution, free of apps.

The service was launched today, and it allows users to pay with various widely accepted payment methods at any charging network without needing specific apps or subscriptions. Namely your credit or debit cards.

The company is working with banks and other organisations to make this happen. Its partners included Visa, CIMB, Bank Islam, Bank Muamalat, TNB Electron and JusEV. The service, currently activated in some cities and towns, targets to cover 80% of Malaysia’s charging networks by 2025.

JuiceUP CEO Benson Lim said his company seeks to make payments for EV charging as seamless as possible.

JuiceUP is a Kuala Lumpur company that was formed only last year. It comes under privately held Paidchain Sdn Bhd, which focuses on facilitating payment solutions for companies in general.

JuiceUP describes itself as Malaysia’s first EV charging management cloud solution company with contactless payment capabilities.

Paidchain’s foray into the EV charging business via JuiceUP comes as EV sales are gaining traction in Malaysia, with Chinese EV makers such as BYD and Great Wall Motor being the prime driving force.
