Sime Darby Motors, the distributor of BYD vehicles, has introduced the upgraded Atto 3 for 2024, marking a strategic move in the competitive electric vehicle (EV) sector.
Priced at RM149,800, the new Atto 3 is now offered only in a single variant, whereas its initial release in December 2022 featured two variants: the Standard Range and the Extended Range, priced at RM149,800 and RM167,800 respectively.
The 2024 Atto 3 maintains the same 410km range as the former Standard Range variant under the NEDC cycle (330km on the WLTP cycle).
This SUV comes with a robust warranty package that includes a 6-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty, an 8-year or 160,000km battery warranty, and an 8-year or 150,000km drive unit warranty. Additionally, customers can opt for extra service packages.
Significant updates to the model include exterior enhancements like a new sleek black fin on the D-pillar and a refreshed BYD logo on the rear. Interior improvements feature a new “Black-Dark Blue” colour scheme alongside the pre-existing Dark Blue-Light Grey option.
Technological advancements have also been incorporated, such as wireless charging and an expanded 15.6-inch intelligent rotating touchscreen that enhances entertainment and visibility.
BYD has added Cosmos Black to its colour options, further diversifying the aesthetic choices for the Atto 3. The vehicle uses BYD’s lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) Blade batteries, noted for their reduced fire risk even under severe damage.
For context, back in 2022, the Standard Range variant is equipped with a 49.92 kWh battery, and the Extended Range with a 60.48 kWh, both featuring front-wheel drive and capable of producing 201hp and 310Nm of torque.
The Atto 3 can accelerate from 0-100kph in 7.3 seconds, supports up to 70kW and 80kW DC fast charging for the Standard and Extended ranges respectively, and can charge from 0 to 80% in about 45 minutes with an 80kW connection. AC charging up to 7kW is also supported.
Built on BYD’s advanced e-platform 3.0, which supports a 400V architecture, the Atto 3 also offers a Vehicle-to-Load feature, allowing the SUV to function as a power bank on wheels.
