Tesla has postponed the latest unveiling of its long-delayed Roadster from Oct 1 to Oct 15, citing severe weather forecast for the outdoor event.
The launch is expected to take place in the Waco area of Texas, possibly at SpaceX’s test facility in nearby McGregor, although Tesla has not confirmed the venue.
The delay is the latest setback for the second-generation Roadster, first shown in 2017 and originally due to enter production years ago.
CEO Elon Musk had confirmed the Oct 1 event earlier this month, nearly nine years after the prototype made its debut.
Some reports have linked the need for an outdoor venue to Tesla’s previously discussed plan to equip the Roadster with SpaceX-derived cold-gas thrusters and demonstrate unusual performance capabilities.
Tesla’s postponement announcement did not confirm any such connection.
The Oct 15 event is expected to provide updated specifications, production plans and timing for the sports EV.
