JomCharge has added a Platinum membership plan for EV drivers who use public chargers often.
The new tier costs RM39.90 a month and gives members a 25% discount at eligible JomCharge Platinum charging locations. There is no monthly usage cap, so the saving rises with charging frequency.
Platinum costs more than the existing RM9.90-a-month JomCharge Elite plan, which gives a 10% discount.
That makes Platinum better suited to drivers who charge frequently on the public network, while Elite remains the lower-cost option for lighter use.
Sign-up is done through the JomCharge app. After activation, members can use the app’s Elite and Platinum map filter to find eligible chargers. EV Connection lists more than 900 JomCharge Platinum charge points nationwide under the programme.
The discount does not cover every charger shown in the app. Official terms limit the benefit to authorised chargers co-owned and operated by EV Connection within the JomCharge network. Roaming partner chargers and third-party CPO chargers are excluded.
Membership runs month to month and auto-renews. Users who do not want another month must disable auto-renewal at least three days before expiry.
The new plan was rolled out in conjunction with the Kia Ownership Experience event at the Kia Glenmarie flagship 3S centre in Shah Alam, which runs from May 11 to 17.
Existing Kia EV owners can get one free month of JomCharge Platinum, while visitors and potential Kia buyers may receive two free months of JomCharge Elite.
For regular users of eligible JomCharge Platinum chargers, the 25% discount could offset the RM39.90 fee fairly quickly. For those who only charge outside home once in a while, Elite may still be the more sensible pick.
