GAC Trumpchi has a new off-roader in the works, and it looks like it means business.
CarNewsChina reports the Guangzhou-based brand has released teaser photos and video of a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV — known internally as the T75 — ahead of its Beijing Auto Show debut on April 24.
The design is boxy and built for rough ground. Short overhangs, a flat roof, thick plastic cladding around the arches, blacked-out wheels, and a full-size spare on a swing-out tailgate all make the point clearly. Semi-hidden door handles and wide mirrors add to the look.
GAC is going after GWM Tank and BYD’s off-road models with this one.
Mechanically, the T75 runs a plug-in hybrid system paired with what GAC is calling a “digital chassis.”
The company hasn’t spelled out exactly what that means, but the term generally refers to steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire tech.
That kind of electromechanical setup is now showing up in more Chinese cars — the Chery Exeed EX7 and Li Auto L9 Livis are two recent examples.
The T75 has already been tested hard. GAC ran it through winter trials in Yakeshi, Inner Mongolia, where it gets down to -30°C. Video from those tests showed the camouflaged prototype crawling up a snow-covered incline at a 30% gradient. The car also has air suspension.
People watching the teasers closely noticed a LiDAR unit on the roof.
GAC recently teamed up with Huawei on a new brand called Aistaland, so there’s plenty of speculation that the sensor is Huawei hardware — the company’s latest driver assistance kit uses a 896-line LiDAR. More sensors are fitted in the front fenders too.
Development on the T75 started in 2024. Total spending on the project sits at 512.65 million yuan (around RM300mil), said Chinese auto site Autohome.
GAC Trumpchi sold 39,391 cars in China across January and February 2026, according to China EV DataTracker. The brand started in 2010 as GAC’s passenger car line and sells abroad under the GAC name, minus the Trumpchi badge.
At Beijing, it’ll face stiff competition from Geely’s Galaxy Cruiser 700, another PHEV off-roader set to break cover at the same show. April 24 is shaping up to be a busy day for Chinese 4×4 fans.
