Bermaz Xpeng Sdn Bhd launched the G6 Standard Range variant today, pricing the entry-level electric SUV at RM159,948 (on-the-road without insurance) in Peninsular Malaysia.
The rear-wheel-drive version marks the most accessible entry into the brand’s “Ultra Smart Coupe SUV” range, making it some RM20,000 than the next one up.
With the arrival of the Standard Range, the prices of the three existing G6 versions will cost a little more: the Long Range is now at RM180,013, AWD Performance at RM191,523, and AWD Black Edition at RM195,523.
The Standard Range variant features a 68.5kWh lithium iron phosphate battery paired with a single rear motor producing 252hp and 440Nm of torque. Xpeng claims the configuration delivers 0-100kph acceleration in 6.94 seconds and a top speed of 202kph.
Driving range stands at 480km under WLTP testing, representing a 45km reduction from the Long Range model’s 525km capability. The Long Range uses an 80.8kWh battery pack.
Despite the smaller battery, the Standard maintains Xpeng’s 800V electrical architecture. The company said DC fast-charging from 10-80% takes 12 minutes, though peak charging power drops to 382kW from the 451kW available on premium variants. AC charging operates at 11kW, requiring 7.3 hours for a 5-100% charge.
Cost reductions include 18-inch wheels replacing larger 20-inch units in the rest, elimination of Nappa leather and suede interior materials, and removal of front-seat massage functions.
Advanced driver-assistance features including Auto Lane Change have been deleted, with the variant using a simplified forward-vision system instead of the Nvidia Orin-powered setup in higher specifications.
Bermaz Auto Berhad group CEO Datuk Francis Lee said the launch aims to expand access to electric vehicles.
