The smiles keep coming for Pro-NET executives.
Booking for its upcoming Proton e.MAS 5 is gaining traction.
It has amassed 3,000 bookings within a week, including 1,607 in the first 24 hours.
Note that bookings do not necessarily translate to orders, as some propective customers may not follow through for one reason or another. They may change their minds or their bank loan application didn’t get the nod, for example.
The company positions the B-segment hatchback as “Malaysia’s first affordable EV, with a tentative price range of RM60,000–RM80,000.
Chief executive Zhang Qiang said early demand for the e.MAS 5 built on momentum from the e.MAS 7, which Pro-NET reports as Malaysia’s best-selling EV this year.
As at Sept 30, cumulative e.MAS 7 sales stood at 6,655 units (6,212 domestic, 443 exported), equating to a 24% EV market share and nine consecutive months at No. 1, according to the company.
Key specifications for the e.MAS 5 include a WLTP range of 325km, DC fast-charging capability, and a cabin pitched as C-segment roomy within a compact footprint.
Equipment highlighted by Pro-NET includes a 14.6-inch FHD head unit, Atlas Auto OS, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and the Proton e.MAS app.
The car is targeted at urban commutes, school runs and short lifestyle trips, with Pro-NET emphasising running-cost advantages over petrol models.
The e.MAS 5 would be available to view at showrooms nationwide from Oct 17 .
Pro-NET lists 30 e.MAS dealerships for bookings and enquiries. Customers can register interest via the its website or at outlets.
A RM99 booking fee applies, with early-bird incentives for the first 5,000 successful registrants: a limited-edition Proton e.MAS Touch ’n Go NFC card pre-loaded with RM100 and a RM500 rebate on the booking fee, subject to terms and conditions.
Pro-NET said local deliveries and final specifications would be confirmed closer to launch.
