BYD and Sinopec have converted a former petrol station in Shanghai into a Flash Charging flagship hub, extending a strategic partnership signed earlier this year.

The site at “1209 Huqingping Road” began operating on Aug 6, according to Chinese media reports citing confirmation from Sinopec Shanghai Petroleum Branch.

The former Sinopec station has stopped selling fuel and now operates as a BYD Flash Charging facility, with an Easy Joy convenience store also opening at the location.

Images shared through BYD-linked social media show 12 charging bays beneath six T-shaped charging structures, according to CarNewsChina.

The site also includes a customer rest area.

BYD and Sinopec signed their strategic cooperation framework agreement on June 3, 2026. BYD said the partnership covers charging-network development and interconnection, vehicle-owner services, integrated energy services and wider cooperation across the energy and automotive sectors.

The Shanghai project follows BYD’s expansion of its Flash Charging network in China.

Its latest system supports charging at up to 1,500kW through a single connector, with BYD claiming compatible vehicles can charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes.

BYD has targeted 20,000 Flash Charging stations in China by the end of 2026.
