TNB Electron has opened a new 240kW DC fast-charging point at R&R Rawang Northbound, strengthening charging coverage for EV drivers travelling north on the PLUS highway.
The installation uses an Autel charger with capacity shared across two parking bays. Users can start and pay for charging on-site through the JuiceUp card terminal, without relying solely on an app.
The station is undergoing operational testing from noon on Sept 28 until 11.59pm on Sept 29, during which charging is offered free of charge. Charging is priced at RM1.80 per kWh after that.
Rawang Northbound had been earmarked for a TNB Electron charger several years earlier. TNB named the location in 2023 as part of a planned expansion covering several highway rest areas, including sites at Machap, Gunung Semanggol, Gurun and Paka.
At the time, the utility was targeting 40 EV chargers along highways and major trunk roads across Peninsular Malaysia.
The Rawang installation also represents a substantial increase in available charging power compared with TNB Electron’s earlier highway deployments, some of which used 90kW DC units.
