Chery iCaur V23 and Tiggo 7 PHEV earn 5-star Asean NCAP ratings

    Chery added two more five-star results to its Asean NCAP record after submitting the iCaur V23 and the Tiggo 7 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) for assessment under the programme’s current 2021–2025 protocol.

    Asean NCAP assessed both SUVs across four areas: Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP), Safety Assist (SA) and Motorcyclist Safety (MS).

    Under the current protocol, AOP contributes 40 points, while COP, SA and MS contribute 20 points each.

    The 2021–2025 cycle ends in 2025, with the 2026–2030 protocol scheduled to begin in January 2026.

    For the iCaur V23, Asean NCAP awarded an overall score of 91.02 points, made up of 39.71 in AOP, 16.67 in COP, 17.14 in SA and 17.50 in MS.

    The model’s safety equipment list included six airbags, ESC, ABS, a seatbelt reminder for the driver and front passenger, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.

    CHERY-TIGGO-7-PHEV

    Chery also listed Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City and AEB Inter-Urban, plus blind spot detection covering both sides, auto high beam and pedestrian protection as standard features across all variants.

    Additional driver-assist systems listed as standard included AEB for motorcycles, lane departure warning, forward collision warning and lane keep assist.

    The second assessed model, the Tiggo 7 PHEV, posted a higher total score of 94.68 points and secured a five-star rating as well. Its score comprised a full 40.00 points in AOP, 17.18 in COP, 20.00 in SA and 17.50 in MS.

    Chery said the Tiggo 7 PHEV came with eight airbags and expanded seatbelt reminders for both front and rear occupants, along with rear seat occupant detection.

    The Tiggo 7 PHEV also featured child presence detection (CPD), which was described as alerting the driver to check the rear seats if the rear doors were opened before the start of a journey.

    Standard fitment listed for the model included AEB City and Inter-Urban, blind spot detection, auto high beam, pedestrian protection, Isofix, plus lane departure warning, forward collision warning, lane keep assist and AEB for motorcycles.
