A new BYD dealership has opened in an affluent neighbourhood of Kuala Lumpur.
The outlet at Hartamas Shopping Centre is run by Harmony Auto, a leading car dealership group in China.
A service and spare parts centre, set to be operational in the third quarter, will make this the first 3S centre located in a mall.
At the opening ceremony, Harmony Auto presented 10 BYD electric cars to customers.
Currently, BYD offers the Atto 3 SUV, Dolphin hatchback, and Seal sports sedan in the Malaysian market.
It’s interesting to see a Chinese dealer wade into Malaysia. Harmony Auto, a Hong Kong-listed company, is a heavyweight player, and has already set up shop in Cambodia, the Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia. Harmony Auto is independent of the sole Malaysian distributor of BYD cars Sime Darby Beyond Auto, a subsidiary of Sime Darby Motors.
The latest BYD outlet, spanning about 3,230 square feet, enhances customer experience with a spacious car display area, a luxurious customer lounge, discussion rooms, and a delivery area.
With direct access from the mall’s parking lot, the aftersales reception area features modern design and personalised service processes. Outside, six parking bays equipped with DC and AC chargers cater to BYD owners.
BYD Asia-Pacific president Liang Xinyue said the location was convenient for customers to shop for BYD products and service their cars.
BYD and Harmony Auto plan to expand with more dealerships in Malaysia.
