Beijing Hyundai will open presales for the China-developed Ioniq V on Aug 21 at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, ahead of its scheduled market launch in September.

The Ioniq V is the first production model from Hyundai’s Ioniq electric-car line developed specifically for Chinese buyers. It made its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April and was led by Hyundai’s China design operation.

The 4,900mm-long fastback has a 2,900mm wheelbase. Hyundai said the long-range version can travel more than 600km under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC).

Chinese regulatory filings show two battery and motor combinations. One pairs a 53.5kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with a 140kW motor, while the larger 66.8kWh pack is matched with a 168kW motor. Reported CLTC ranges span 520km to 650km, depending on configuration.

Inside, the Ioniq V gets a 27-inch ultra-wide 4K display, head-up display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor. Its infotainment system integrates Baidu’s ERNIE and ByteDance’s Doubao artificial-intelligence models.

Driver assistance comes from Hyundai’s collaboration with Momenta. Hyundai said the L2+ system covers urban roads, highways and parking, with tuning for Chinese driving conditions.

Pricing has yet to be announced. The Chengdu Auto Show runs from Aug 21 to 30 at the Western China International Expo City.
