Nissan’s facelifted Serena e-Power moved a step closer to its Malaysia rollout after Edaran Tan Chong Motor hosted a two-day media evaluation of the sixth-generation MPV.
The company said the model would go on sale in March, with an estimated price range of RM160,000 to RM180,000, and previews planned at selected Edaran Tan Chong Motor showrooms.
The C28 Serena e-Power uses a motor-only drive set-up, with the petrol engine acting as a generator rather than powering the wheels directly.
Nissan said the second-generation e-Power system paired a 163PS electric motor with 315Nm of torque, supported by a 1.4-litre three-cylinder direct-injection engine and a 1.77kWh lithium-ion battery.
Fuel use was rated at 18.5km/L (NEDC), with a claimed driving range of up to 1,000km.
Other than efficiency, Nissan pitched refinement. It said added insulation, an acoustic windscreen and chassis changes were aimed at a calmer cabin, while a new front suspension and revised electric steering were engineered to reduce body roll and help cut motion sickness on longer trips.
The MPV also offers three drive modes (Standard, Sport and Eco) plus an e-Pedal Step function for single-pedal-style driving in traffic.
Inside, Nissan highlighted dual 12.3-inch colour screens, a new central touch panel, and a cabin built around flexibility, including 13 seating modes, a walk-through layout and hands-free sliding doors.
Safety kit listed six airbags, a 360-degree camera and Nissan ProPilot features such as intelligent cruise control and lane and blind-spot intervention.
